Premier League Brighton have a “concrete” interest in Ajax striker Mohammed Kudus as Rangers reportedly close in on a deal for Abdallah Sima.
According to the likes of Fabrizio Romano, Roberto De Zerbi’s side are big fans of Ajax’s 22-year-old Ghanaian forward, who is another name familiar to Rangers supporters.
Mohammed Kudus played and scored in both Ajax clashes with Rangers in the Champions League last season, netting in the 4-0 defeat in Amsterdam and the 3-1 return in Glasgow.
Rangers fans will have one eye on what happens with any Brighton interest in Mohammed Kudus, with the Ibrox side reportedly having established interest in Abdallah Sima.
According to reports, Rangers are eyeing a season-long loan deal for the 22-year-old Senegalese international, who has been at Brighton since the summer of 2021.
Mohammed Kudus to Brighton, Abdallah Sima to Rangers?
Rangers are also very well aware of the talents of Abdallah Sima, the attacker having stole the show with Slavia Prague in that infamous Europa League clash earlier in the same year.
Once rated at £50m, it speaks volumes about Brighton’s negotiating power that they eventually managed to strike a reported £7m deal to bring Abdallah Sima to the Amex.
Since then the striker has struggled to live up to the early hype in his career, with injury disrupting loan spells at Stoke in the English Championship and Angers in Ligue 1.
Brighton will also be hoping to use that negotiating power to strike a deal for Mohammed Kudus, who was valued as highly as £48m in March amid links to Manchester United.
As Rangers look to secure a move for Abdallah Sima, perhaps Mohammed Kudus is a necessary Brighton domino which can help the club get the switch over the line.
The interest in Sima also surely ends Ibrox links to another attacker, with summer-long Gers links to one Latin American international surely quashed by their pursuit of the African forward.
Abdallah Sima also has history with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers which bodes well going into the new season.
