Rangers are closing in on signing Brighton and Hove Albion forward Abdallah Sima on a season-long loan deal.

That is according to The Scottish Mail on Sunday, who report that Rangers are leading the race to sign Sima.

It’s claimed that the Brighton talent has been on Beale’s radar for a while now, having previously faced Rangers in the Europa League.

Brighton are happy to strike a loan deal and it’s claimed that Sima could complete a move to Glasgow as early as this week.

The report adds that Rangers are still pushing to land Cremonese attacker Cyriel Dessers, even after signing Sam Lammers too.

Sima, Lammers and Dessers could form a new-look set of Rangers attackers this summer with Antonio Colak and Kemar Roofe potentially under threat.

Who is Rangers target Abdallah Sima?

Sima was born in Senegal and started his career with local club Medina before heading to France with Thonon Evian.

MAS Taborsko then managed to lure Sima in 2020, and he lasted just six months there before Slavia Prague pounced.

Sima made an instant impact for Slavia, smashing 16 goals in 39 games for the club – and he played twice against Rangers back in 2021.

Premier League rumours began to gather pace with Brighton and Hove Albion eventually winning the fight for his signature in a £7million deal.

Sima was immediately sent on loan to Stoke City, but he managed only four first-team appearances, failing to register a goal or assist.

The 22-year-old spent this past season with Angers, registering six goals and two assists in 37 games.

Angers were relegated to Ligue 2 though and Brighton are now keen to get him out on loan again.

Tall, pacy and rangy at 6ft 2in tall, Sima is a completely different threat to anything Rangers currently have in Beale’s squad.

Sima can play up front or out wide and Beale may look to use that versatility to give Rangers a real attacking boost.
