Bayern Munich bonus for Rangers if Champions League rivals targeted

When Rangers played PSV Eindhoven last season there was one player who stood out, not Joey Veerman or Xavi Simons, but Ibrahim Sangare.

The 25-year old has been in the Eredivisie since signing in 2020 and is a key figure for former Gers boss target Peter Bosz.

If Rangers can make it through against Servette and PSV Eindhoven see off Sturm Graz, they might not have to face Ibrahim Sangare again, according to Mercato journalist Sebastian Denis.

The Ivory Coast international is exactly the type of player that Rangers could do with in the engine room.

A real out and out defensive midfielder who can dominate the tempo of the game.

One that isn’t just a destroyer but also capable of evading a press and of building and creating attacks.

Rangers could face a weaker PSV if Ibrahim Sangare departs

As reported by Mercato, Thomas Tuchel is considering paying the release clause for the midfield powerhouse but he won’t come cheap:

“Undisputed holder with the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire, Sangaré is seduced by the idea of being able to join a club as prestigious as Bayern Munich.

“The player has a release clause of €37 million.”

Approximately £32m in old money to be precise.

The only surprise is that a “bigger” team than PSV haven’t moved before now.

Rangers tie with Servette is far from done but, if we can see the job through, the weaker PSV are, the better.

Xavi Simons has left with Malik Tillman, in a weird twist of fate, now being the player tasked with replacing his Eredivisie top goalscorer output.

They looked impressive against Sturm Graz, however, without Sangare, they are considerably weaker.

The draw might not have been kind but, if Bayern make their move, it could be the next best thing.
