The advent of social media means that the countdown until the final whistle on deadline day will be like a series of 24 as Rangers look to strengthen over the next few days.
With every passing hour, Philippe Clement will probably have to go with what he’s got in his squad for the trip to Parkhead at the weekend knowing how reluctant he is to throw players straight into action.
The manager knows that a return to Ibrox is just around the corner but how he could have done with a player now being tipped for a £25m move to the Premier League.
Rangers missed opportunity as Andreas Skov Olsen gets £25m value
According to reports in Italy, Rangers bid £5m to sign Andreas Skov Olsen from Bologna in 2022, however, a move never materialised and the Denmark international moved to Club Brugges with Arsenal now eyeing the goalscoring winger according to Caught Offside.
With 43 goals and 24 assists in 102 games for the Belgians, Skov Olsen has been worth every penny and would have solved every issue Rangers have had on the right-hand side of the attack.
To make matters worse, Steven Gerrard also had a bid rejected for the 6ft 2inch tall winger after hitting 27 goals in 51 games for Nordsjaelland.
Identifying good players doesn’t seem to be the problem, however, getting them over the line has been.
Rangers could have afforded Skov Olsen on the two occasions he was linked and there is little doubt that he would have posted solid numbers.
When you consider who the 24-year old was compared to, a move to the Premier League always seemed inevitable:
Danish journalist Klaus Egelund once said via Het Nieuwsblad that Skov Olsen is similar to Eden Hazard, Salah and Arjen Robben.
“He is an Eden Hazard type. But, since he’s left-footed and plays on the right, you could better compare him to Robben or Salah.”

Philippe Clement will be hoping that he can land the next Andreas Skov Olsen as time runs out but he was optimistic after seeing his side beat Ross County 6-0 at the weekend:
“I expect a busy week but more busy with incoming and a few outgoing.
“Outgoing, not for players who were in the squad today, that’s clear.
“More outgoings for players who weren’t in the squad.”
Getting players like Ianis Hagi and Todd Cantwell out the door will free up a lot of space on the wage bill and it will be hoped that it can be put to good use.
Unfortunately, there won’t be a third move for Skov Olsen, unless Nils Koppen has found a money tree hidden behind his desk.
