Former Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has agreed a sizeable pay-cut to stay with Brazilian side Santos and aid their promotion hunt next season.
The Colombian hitman, 27, enjoyed a difficult stint with the Sao Paolo side last season, failing to score a single goal after joining the Brazilian club.
There were also hectic scenes after Santos were relegated from the Brazilian top flight for the first time in their history.
Playing only 76 minutes last season, a release clause in Morelos’ contract meant it looked like Alfie’s Brazilian adventure was going to be cut short before it had even began.
Alfredo Morelos takes Santos wage-cut
Now, reports are suggesting that the striker is set to take a 50% wage cut to remain in Brazil after he reported back for pre-season training this week.
Alfredo Morelos was reportedly on £40k per week in the second half of last season in Brazil with the striker now set to earn £20k to aid Santos’ promotion push.
The news means that Morelos will get a full pre-season and hopefully a full campaign under his belt with the Brazilians and Rangers fans will watch El Bufalo’s career closely.
Amid links to Russia and Spain, Alfredo Morelos struggled to find a new club after leaving Ibrox in the summer following a six-year stint in Glasgow.
The news will also end any suggestion that Alfredo Morelos could return to the club as Rangers look to add a new striker to the squad this January.

Talk of Rangers return short-lived
Whilst Alfredo Morelos will be turning out for Santos next season, there is still plenty of love in the Rangers support for the Colombian striker.
Rangers fans might not have gotten the best from the forward in the latter part of his Ibrox career but Morelos does leave a legacy at the club.
Finishing the Gers’ all-time European top goalscorer on 29 strikes, Morelos scored 124 goals for Rangers in 269 games for the club.
Morelos joined for a reported £1m from HJK Helsinki under the management of Pedro Caixinha following a recommendation from Jonatan Johansson in 2017
