Alfredo Morelos breaks Rangers silence as Aston Villa named as suitor

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has taken to social media with Aston Villa the latest club to be linked to his services.

Sharing an image of himself pointing at the back of his Rangers shirt on Facebook, the post was also accompanied by the message “MORELOS #20”.

This appears to be in response to much discussion surrounding Alfredo Morelos wearing an Everton shirt whilst back home in Colombia.

The images would spark much discussion surrounding the striker’s future, who is out to contract at the end of the season.

Couple this with comments from Michael Beale about Morelos needing to buck up his ideas, and suddenly the player’s future seems up in the air.

“He’s free to go and speak to other people,” Beale said.

“In terms of the reports from outside, I’ve not spoken to him about it. Alfredo’s situation is slightly different. He’s been at the club a long time. We’ve not offered him anything.

“When [Morelos] has needed to play he’s been fine – but I want a bit more energy in the final third.

“Can he provide that? If he can then he’s a better option than what he has been the last few months. Everything I’m saying here has been said to him as well.“

Aston Villa join Alfredo Morelos hunt

If this post is anything to go by, Alfredo Morelos isn’t focused on life anywhere else for now, even if Aston Villa have reportedly just joined the race.

Whilst there has been nothing official in the Everton links, Aston Villa have been named by Turkish outlet Takvim as Alfredo Morelos suitors.

This comes with Super Lig giants Galatasaray reportedly monitoring the player’s contract situation heading into the summer.

The links to Aston Villa and Galatasaray also come after Alfredo Morelos was liked to Sevilla, albeit those reports were later rebuffed.

All this points to sizeable interest in the Rangers striker ahead of the summer and what happens next will be interesting.
