The Spanish outlet which claimed Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos had struck a pre-contract deal with Sevilla has appeared to perform a u-turn on the claims.

Vamos mi Sevilla set the Scottish tabloids typing when they claimed that the Colombian international striker had agreed a pre-contract in La Liga come the end of the season.

After reports emerged also shooting down the claims, now Vamos mi Sevilla have returned to give an update on the situation involving El Bufalo.

Despite previously suggesting a pre-contract had been agreed, the outlet are now claiming that the situation with Sevilla has alerted Rangers more closely to Morelos’ contract situation.

The report is claiming that the links to Sevilla have sounded “alarm bells” at Ibrox, with the Gers not “throwing in the towel” when it comes to the player.

Publication in Morelos to Sevilla U-Turn

Whilst we’re sure that’s probably the case – even if Alfredo Morelos has some proving himself to do – it’s a far cry from suggestions from the same outlet that the striker had agreed a deal with Sevilla.

The initial reports linking Morelos to Sevilla also reached Rangers manager Michael Beale, who was grilled on the player’s situation after the Viaplay Cup semi-final with Raith Rovers.

Whilst the Rangers boss was clear he hadn’t anything confirming the Morelos to Sevilla reports, Beale did warn the striker that he needed to buck up his ideas at Ibrox.

“Alfredo’s situation is slightly different,” said Beale [Viaplay].

“He has been at the club for a long time and I need to see a little bit more from Alfredo day in, day out.

“When he’s played when the team has needed him, he’s fine – but I want a bit more energy in the final third.

“Can he provide that? If he can then he’s a better option than what he has been the last few months. Everything I’m saying here has been said to him as well.”

Amid links to Sevilla, Alfredo Morelos then issued the perfect response on Instagram.
