Alfredo Morelos and Lawrence Shankland in dream partnership journalist shout

It’s not going to stop until another club signs him, Alfredo Morelos will be linked with Rangers in the same way that Lawrence Shankland is too.

Once upon a time, they might have played together given how often the Hearts skipper has been mentioned with a move to Ibrox and signing for the club he supports.

The Rangers squad is looking light on striker options with just Cyriel Dessers and Kemar Roofe as the only senior options available but this doesn’t mean that Alfredo Morelos or Lawrence Shankland should be signed, however, Joel Sked thinks that they should.

Alfredo Morelos and Lawrence Shankland together at last?

The Hearts Standard and former Scotsman journalist has a theory after it was announced that El Bufalo is a free agent once again.

Sked has frequently spoken of his love for Morelos on BBC Scotland’s A View From the Terrace and it’s clear that, despite his Hearts leanings, he is a fan of the enigmatic Colombian.

Writing on X, he said:

“Me: Hearts cannot sell Lawrence Shankland in January unless a ridiculous offer.

“Also me: Sell Shankland and offer Morelos a six-year deal.

“But, and hear me out, Shankland 𝐴𝑁𝐷 Morelos…”

It wouldn’t be the most mobile of forward lines with Lawrence Shankland and Alfredo Morelos but opposition defenders would, at least, know that they have been in a game.

The Scotland international could play as the ten but he isn’t really the type to open defences with his passing, again, not really a good fit.

For Hearts though, they could cause carnage together.

Put Alex Lowry in behind them and provide width from wingers or full-backs and you have yourself a striker partnership.

Unfortunately for Sked though, Lawrence Shankland is on nowhere near the sort of money that Alfredo Morelos is and the latter might be, slightly, out of their reach.

Which makes it a scenario just as likely to happen at Hearts as it is at Rangers.
