Abdallah Sima emerged as a Rangers target over the weekend with reports suggesting that a deal could be imminent.

The 22-year old forward needs to rediscover the form that saw a big money move to Brighton, however, he is still young enough to do this.

In saying goodbye to Angers fans, where he had been on loan, Abdallah Sima, once compared to Thierry Henry, suggested that he is on the move – it may be to Rangers.

What has Abdallah Sima said ahead of potential Rangers move

Writing on Instagram, the Senegal international mentions nothing about returning to Brighton:

“Supporters of SCO, I joined the club with the desire and hope to have a great season with you, with this group.

“Unfortunately this one didn’t turn out the way we wanted and even though it was very difficult I never gave up and always wanted to give it my best.

“The time has come for me to say goodbye, a new adventure awaits.

“Thank you team for welcoming me with open arms and I am honoured to be part of your family…the work is still in progress.”

Rangers are said to be close to sealing a loan transfer for Sima, as yet, no specific details have emerged.

A season long loan, if Michael Beale brings other reported targets like Benie Traore and Cyriel Dessers in would see a significantly stronger attack.

A loan-to-buy deal would be even more beneficial given that Abdallah Sima will be into the last season of his Brighton contract next summer should he spend 2023/24 at Rangers.

He may not have had a great season last year but he was up against it in a struggling side playing in a top league.

At Rangers, he would get significantly more ball and more time in the final third, similar to his time at Slavia Prague before his £7m Brighton move.

Playing at Ibrox is never an easy option, maybe, this is the “adventure” that Sima is looking forward too.
