The one signing that would buy a bit of time for Philippe Clement and alleviate the pressure off the Rangers board is Abdallah Sima.

Rarely has a loan player made such an impact and, but for injury, who knows what might have been accomplished.

The 22-year old clearly loved being part of the squad and scoring at Ibrox, so much so that he continues to comment on Rangers social media content and post his own memories from a happy time in his career.

Rangers hopes of Abdallah Sima return looking slim

Rangers will have to move fast though if they want to bring Abdallah Sima back to Glasgow with a club said to be in the advanced stages of negotiations with Brighton over a possible loan deal.

According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Brest are looking to tie up a short-term transfer for the Senegal international forward:

“Negotiations have accelerated for the loan of Brighton right winger, Abdallah Sima .

“An agreement is even close to being reached for a loan without an option to buy.

“Trained at Slavia Prague, the native of Dakar has passed through Stoke City, Angers and Glasgow Rangers. In Scotland, he posted 16 goals in 39 games played.

“With the departures of Martín Satriano, Steve Mounié, Adrien Lebeau and Taïryk Arconte, the Bretons are in dire need of reinforcements on the offensive lines.”

No risk Sima signing should see Rangers make Brighton call

Sima is an almost no risk signing for Rangers with Clement keeping in touch all summer, just in case.

There is no doubting his quality or what he is capable of.

There is also no doubting his ability to settle in Glasgow or with his teammates.

He scores goals and causes opposition defenders problems with his pace and power but it is his movement and uncanny knack for getting in the right places to score goals that has been missed.

Sima also scored every type of goal from power headers to tap ins and long-range screamers.

The only red flag is his injury history in terms of how many games he has missed in the last four seasons due to muscle complaints.

This is why Rangers must follow Brest’s lead and enquire about another season-long loan.

It would give Oscar Cortes more time to settle and allow Clement to rotate between them and Vaclav Cerny.

One apparent issue already this season has been the drop-off in quality from the starting XI to the back-up options.

If Rangers can’t afford a permanent deal then this is the next best thing.

At this stage of the window and fans being desperate for new signings, Sima coming back on loan would feel every bit as good as a permanent signing for an unknown quantity.
