Rangers-linked Coventry City midfielder Gustavo Hamer has addressed a claim that he had reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with the Gers.
The Press Association reported back in January [via BT Sport] that the Gers were interested in Hamer, who moved to Coventry from Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle in July 2020.

David Edgar of Heart and Hand was quick to rubbish the report, but links have persisted, with GiveMeSport reporting last month that the Light Blues ‘remain keen’ on the 24-year-old.
Steven Gerrard recently added Juninho Bacuna to his midfield options, though, and £4m-rated Hamer [EFL Hub] insists he’s never spoken to the Light Blues.
“My girlfriend said: ‘oh nice that you are going to Rangers for four million. You could have said that to me’, he told Voetbal Primeur. “They all know more than I do.”
“Those rumours are going around very fast here. [A] teammate also made a joke recently ‘nice that you leave and don’t tell [the] group’. It said that I had a verbal agreement with Rangers, but I’ve never spoken to them.”
However, later in the interview, he makes it clear that he won’t be content with staying at Coventry forever.
“I do have that ambition and I also think that I can go even higher. Next season I hope to be able to make a step up. If I keep going like this, I should be able to do that too.”

Hamer dismisses Rangers links
It appears that there was little substance to Hamer’s links to Rangers and therefore, there’s clearly no chance of him moving to Ibrox before the end of the transfer window.
The Brazilian-born former Dutch youth international is clearly ambitious, though, and it’s not inconceivable that the Gers could move for him in the future.
The midfield area is relatively well-stocked for now, but Glen Kamara is likely to move elsewhere at some point, while Steven Davis can’t go on forever and it remains to be seen how big a role Ryan Jack can play going forward following his injury woes.
In other transfer news, a rival Premiership club have reportedly enquired about bringing a former Rangers player back to Scotland.
