Antonio Colak insists he is fulfilling a ‘dream’ after leaving Rangers for Serie B outfit Parma earlier in the summer transfer window.

Having plied his trade in Croatia, Greece, Germany, Poland and Sweden – as well as Scotland – Parma’s new £2.5 million centre-forward has more stamps on his passport than Michael Palin, and now finds himself adding another destination to his globe-trotting career.

Rangers agreed a deal with the two-time UEFA Cup winners in mid-July. And Antonio Colak, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb at his official presentation, insists he is ticking one big ambition off his personal bucket list; Italy a ‘dream’ destination for a man who has led the line on almost all corners of the continent.

“It’s difficult for me to speak Italian now, but later I want to learn the language,” Colak begins. “My international experience is quite extensive. I’ve played in several countries, but my dream has always been to play in an Italian team.”

Colak, who scored 18 goals in his one and only season at Ibrox, joins a Parma side aiming for promotion after losing in the play-offs last term.

“I know the difficulties that Serie B can bring,” the Croatia international adds. “But I’m also aware of what awaits me, and the problems we will have to face to move from Serie B to Serie A.

“Parma are an ambitious team that deserve Serie A. So, I’m here to do whatever is necessary in that sense.

“There are several reasons why I’ve changed shirt several times, first of all because I’m ambitious and I like to play all the time. I want to show my qualities.

“And I’m an ambitious person. I always set myself new targets. For me Parma is a new experience, in which I want to do well and to get the much-desired promotion.”

Rangers boss Mick Beale opted against keeping Colak at Ibrox, bringing in two forwards more au fait with his high-pressing methods in Danilo and Cyriel Dessers.

Dessers opened his Gers account during Wednesday’s 2-1 Champions League qualification victory over Swiss outfit Servette.
