Rangers could soon be in the market for a new striker and Iqraam Rayners is a hitman on red hot form.
South African striker Rayners, 29, has been banging in the goals for Mamelodi Sundowns this season and it’s not gone unnoticed at home or abroad.
Rangers have reportedly ‘enquired’ about Iqraam Rayners and have made their transfer interest clear as the Bafana Bafana hitman continues to impress in his native South Africa.
We told you how Rayners’ remarkable form has just been recognised with a personal award and now the striker has dedicated it to his teammates.

Iqraam Rayners breaks silence on award
Iqraam Rayners now has 13 goals for the season and has played a crucial role in Mamelodi Sundown’s domestic and continental campaigns.
Awarded the Premier Soccer League Player of the Month for his exploits across November and December, Rayners has three goals in his last four games and has fired Sundowns to the top of the PSL table.
Speaking about the award as those links to Rangers linger, Rayners insists he couldn’t have done it without the help of his teammates.
“It’s always good to win individual awards but it is not about me, it’s about team effort, my teammates are helping me, and I am happy,” said Rayners as quoted by Sunday World.
“It was a good month, we travelled a lot, played a lot of games but we kept focused. I was happy, I was in a good space and most importantly, the team is happy.
“Travelling makes you tired, but we pushed through that. And for me, its’ about getting rest and the team physios always insist that we rest properly and also get enough sleep.”
Rangers could be on hunt for new striker soon
The links to Iqraam Rayners come as Rangers potentially look to sell one of the club’s highest earners in Nigerian international Cyriel Dessers.
Dessers himself has admitted he could leave Rangers this month with Moroccan hitman Hamza Igamane and Brazilian striker Danilo now ahead of him in the Ibrox pecking order.
Should Cagliari and Leganes linked Cyriel Dessers leave Rangers, there will be a gap in the squad that needs plugged and Iqraam Rayners has an interesting profile.
A powerful forward who leads from the front, reports have suggested Rangers could sign Rayners for £2.4m this January.
But with Iqraam Rayners 30 later this year, does the striker fit the newly revamped player trading model at Ibrox?
