Rangers are hoping to sign Leicester City defender Harry Souttar and he is thought to be keen on making th move to Ibrox.

The Gers are reeling after losing 5-1 away at PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night.

Rangers’ Champions League hopes are over for another year and Michael Beale is understandably feeling the pressure.

This has been a hugely unconvincing start to the season for Rangers, especially after such a busy summer.

Will this disappointment tempt Beale back into the transfer market? Possibly, although a couple of exits may need to materialise.

Glen Kamara, Scott Wright and Ben Davies could go, with the latter potentially key to any Rangers deal for Harry Souttar…

Harry Souttar keen to join Rangers

TalkSPORT reporter Geoff Peters took to Twitter earlier this month to claim that Rangers are keen to land Leicester City defender Souttar.

Beale offered a fairly coy response to those rumours but Rangers do appear to be interested.

Football Scotland now claim that Souttar is the ‘number one target’ for Rangers heading into deadline day.

It’s suggested that Rangers would take Souttar on loan just months after paying £15million to sign him from Stoke City.

Souttar has been frozen out under new boss Enzo Maresca, seemingly deeming that the Australia international isn’t right for his style of play.

The report claims that both Souttar and Leicester are keen to make the Rangers move happen before Friday’s cut-off point.

That gives Rangers hope but a deal will allegedly go right down to the wire with the Gers no doubt counting the cost of missing out on Champions League money.

Souttar is a huge presence at the back and could be the kind of dominant force Rangers need to solidify a back line which was cut part against PSV.

A move would also see Souttar join forces with his brother John at Rangers, which may well be a factor in his desire to make the move to Glasgow.
