Motherwell teenager tipped for Rangers upstages £1.5m star and stuns Ibrox crowd

Rangers fans got a glimpse of why the club has been tipped to sign Motherwell teenager Lennon Miller in a shock defeat at Ibrox.

The Gers fell to a 2-1 defeat against the Steelmen on a thoroughly disappointing afternoon which blows open the Scottish Premiership title race.

But as the Ibrox support lick their wounds supporters might’ve had one eye on the performance of 17-year-old Lennon Miller who continues to impress in a Motherwell shirt.

Playing the entire 90 minutes of the match, it was an impressive and mature performance in the middle of the park for the teenager as he contributed to a massive victory.

According to FotMob, Lennon Miller scored an average rating of 7.9 in the match and stood out for a variety of reasons.

Firstly the kid won 80% of his duels in the match, whilst he had three shots, seven recoveries, and successfully completed both tackles he made in the game.

For someone so young to come to Ibrox and play such a crucial role in a surprise victory for Motherwell speaks volumes, especially against a form Rangers team.

The kid also upstaged out-of-sorts £1.5m Belgian midfielder Nicolas Raskin, who has toiled at Rangers ever since recovering from a long-term injury problem.

Rangers are one of several clubs said to be tailing Lennon Miller with the conversation around the kid intensifying after comments made by Charlie Mulgrew.

The ex-Celtic defender urged either side of the Old Firm to move for the kid before it’s too late, branding Miller “like a man” in the way he plays, adding “what a player”.

Making 23 appearances for Motherwell this season, and scoring once, Lennon Miller is a technically capable, mature midfielder who has attributes for both ends of the pitch.

It’s clear the kid has a big future and going by his performance at Ibrox this afternoon, we wouldn’t be surprised if Philippe Clement has been taking notes.
