We rate all nine of Rangers’ new arrivals out of ten with two yet to feature this season

Rangers overseen the biggest overhaul in over half a decade at Ibrox this summer as 16 names left the club and nine came in to replace them.

The Gers have cut their wage bill by up to £10m in the process and are now building a younger, hungrier squad with greater on and off pitch potential.

But nothing ever goes perfectly at Ibrox as we all well know and there has been a teething process for Philippe Clement’s new-look team this season.

With the Belgian manager being held to his claim that we’ll see the best of Rangers in the months ahead, here we rate the contribution of the Ibrox side’s new additions so far.

Note that the list doesn’t include Mohamed Diomande or Oscar Cortes, who continued their journeys at Rangers this summer but who joined the club in January.

Liam Kelly – N/A

Former Rangers academy goalkeeper Liam Kelly re-joined the Gers in the summer when his contract expired at Motherwell.

But the 28-year-old is yet to feature for the Gers since returning with Kelly’s prospects with the Scotland national team suffering as a result.

Jefte – 8/10

Brazilian left-back Jefte might’ve joined the Gers in January had it not been for APOEL refusing to budge on a loan deal from Brazilian side Fluminense.

But the 20-year-old was the first signing of the summer and has settled in very nicely indeed after replacing Borna Barisic at Ibrox.

An early-season injury to Ridvan Yilmaz has afforded Jefte more opportunities at left-back and the Brazilian has made the berth his own.

Regularly hailed by Philippe Clement, Jefte remains a raw talent who must improve in his execution in the final third but the defender is composed on the ball and fully committed off it.

A consistent left-back option for whom the sky is the limit, a controversial second yellow card in the Champions League defeat to Dynamo Kyiv is really the only mark on the copybook.

Robin Propper – 6.5/10

Signed as a replacement to Rangers stalwart Connor Goldson, Robin Propper is an experienced Dutch defender who led FC Twente to the Champions League qualifiers.

The Dutch outfit were left devastated when the 31-year-old left the club on a cut-price fee due to a contract clause.

Since then it’s been quite an up-and-down spell at Rangers for Propper who has is enjoying his first foray outside of the Netherlands with the Ibrox giants.

As Propper has gotten used to his environment, the centre-back has been caught out in bigger matches against the likes of Celtic and Lyon.

But against the rest the defender is forming a formidable partnership with John Souttar and racking up an impressive return of clean sheets.

Still has a way to go to been a reliable leader type who delivers every game but a run of six clean sheets in his opening ten matches is a good start.

Neraysho Kasanwirjo – 6/10

When Rangers signed Neraysho Kasanwirjo this summer not a lot was known about the Feyenoord defender with the interesting name.

But the Dutch U21 star has impressed in the limited opportunities he’s had at Rangers so far.

Stepping in with a commanding performance at left-back in the 2-0 Europa League win over Malmo, Kasanwirjo has since been limited to substitute appearances.

A versatile defender who is comfortable on the ball and an imposing figure on the park, Rangers fans haven’t seen much, but they like what they’ve seen so far.

Clinton Nsiala – N/A

Clinton Nsiala joined the club at the end of his AC Milan contract this summer but has spent his time in Glasgow so far turning out for the Rangers B team.

Philippe Clement claimed that Rangers would be taking their time introducing the 20-year-old to the Ibrox first-team squad with Nsiala the club’s only outfield signing yet to play any minutes this season.

Connor Barron – 8/10

If it was down to first-team exposure entirely, then Connor Barron would be the clear front runner for the signing of the season at Rangers.

And maybe in Scotland.

The 22-year-old midfielder from Kintore has been a revelation for Rangers in the middle of the pitch since infuriating Aberdeen fans by moving to Ibrox in the summer.

With the lingering threat of a tribunal over a transfer fee hanging over the deal, Connor Barron deserves huge credit for keeping his head down and making an impact at Rangers.

Called into the Scotland squad after another injury, Barron is improving by the week at Rangers and has been an ever-present for the team this season.

Replacing the hugely influential John Lundstram at Ibrox is no mean feat and Barron has risen to the challenge very effectively in the opening part of the season.

There is still huge room to grow and Barron isn’t the complete package just yet, as a stuttering display against Lyon proved, but the midfielder will be a big part of Rangers for years to come.

Vaclav Cerny – 6/10

Rangers signed Vaclav Cerny on a season-long loan deal from Wolfsburg with the aim of the Czech international winger bringing numbers to the Ibrox frontline.

At times the wide man has succeeded.

A stunning long-range Arjen Robben-esque effort against Motherwell had Gers fans excited over the deal but the 26-year-old soon went on to stutter.

Fluffing his lines in front of goal against Malmo and then almost criminally against Lyon, Cerny has been playing through some rough form but came out the other side before the break.

Netting a match-winning double against St Johnstone on Scottish Premiership duties, Cerny was frank that things haven’t been good enough come full-time.

There is big potential in the winger if he can get his head screwed on right and we have big hopes that Vaclav can produce big moments in the weeks and months ahead.

Rangers will need him to if they are to be successful this season.

Nedim Bajrami – 7/10

Albanian playmaker Nedim Bajrami might’ve joined Rangers right at the end of a tumultuous summer, but the talented 25-year-old might just prove the signing of the window.

Joining on a permanent £3.4m deal from Italian Serie A side Sassuolo, Bajrami has barely had time to get involved at Rangers but already looks like a solid addition.

A creative playmaker with an eye for goal, the best of Bajrami is still to come but so far Rangers fans have seen a promising glimpse of what’s to come.

Off the mark already with that first-minute strike in Malmo – Nedim having a penchant for early goals – something tells us Bajrami on is on the road to becoming a firm fan favourite.

Hamza Igamane – 5/10

Hamza Igamane is potentially the most exciting Rangers summer signing of the lot.

And we just don’t know it yet.

Ranked as one of football’s most promising U23 strikers, Rangers raised a few eyebrows when they signed a £1.7m to bring Igamane to Scotland from FAR Rabat.

It took a while for the 21-year-old to adapt to the Scottish game but over the last few weeks Rangers have begun to see more and more of the young hitman.

A promising cameo against Dundee United has since been tempered with Igamane yet to open his account for Rangers.

We don’t suspect that will remain the case for too long with the Gers hoping that Igamane contributes in a big way even this season.
