Rangers slipped up against Aberdeen in the league on Wednesday night and Steven Gerrard’s side are on a 13-game streak that will be extremely concerning for the manager.
The Gers came from two goals down against the Dons to secure a point in what was the third draw in their last four home Premiership fixtures.
Last season, Rangers’ remarkable Premiership form was built on their scarcely believable defensive record.
The Light Blues conceded just 13 goals all season, ensuring that they didn’t have to produce incredible numbers at the other end of the pitch in order to win games.
However, there was still an average of over two goals scored per game in the league and a feeling that Gerrard’s team could turn it on offensively when they needed to.
The same can’t be said of this season’s squad, though, and, crucially, the defence can no longer be relied upon to secure clean sheet after clean sheet.

Rangers on concerning 13-game streak
Despite having a number of highly-rated strikers and creative players in the group, the goals simply haven’t flowed.
On some occasions, like the recent 1-1 draw with Hearts, wastefulness was the issue. In other matches, like the Aberdeen draw, not enough chances were created.
This isn’t just a short-term blip, though. The stats show that it’s been an issue all season.
Since putting four past Ross County in Dingwall in August, Rangers haven’t scored more than two goals in a match.
That’s a streak of 13 games in all competitions and it includes meetings with European minnows Alashkert and then bottom-of-the-table Dundee.

The Gers have only actually scored more than twice in three of their 20 matches this season and they didn’t manage more than two goals in any of their five pre-season friendlies, either.
The absence of key player Ryan Kent since mid-September hasn’t helped but Rangers were struggling in attack long before his injury.
Gerrard and his staff have a major issue on their hands and they must find a solution soon or they risk blowing what should have been a relatively straightforward title defence.
In other news, Neil McCann slammed a Rangers player on RTV for ‘walking about’ vs Aberdeen.
