Rangers look increasingly likely to let striker Cedric Itten go in the summer according to Football Insider, who claim sources have said he can leave for the right price.

The Swiss international hasn’t exactly set the world on fire during his 20-month spell at Ibrox since arriving for a fee believed to be around £3m from St Gallen [TheScotsman].

He scored six goals in all competitions last season, with all his league goals coming against Motherwell. His bit-part role came during the Ibrox side’s fantastic unbeaten run to win the league title and there were hopes he could have kicked on this season.

Cedric Itten could leave Rangers for the right price in the summer

Despite scoring against Real Madrid in a preseason match, he was shipped off to Greuther Furth for a season-long loan spell.

The 25-year-old was recalled in January as Jermain Defoe departed the club, but he has only netted once, in a 4-0 Scottish Cup tie against Stirling Albion.

It’s fair to say that things have turned sour and there doesn’t appear to be a future for the striker at Ibrox next season.

Gio will be aiming to bring his own players in, and this could require some funds being brought into the club. Rangers might not get the near £3m outlay we spent on Itten, but the hierarchy should be trying to get a good proportion of it from a potential buyer.

Hopefully, the player can get the right move and spark some life into his career, there is no doubt he is talented, but it just isn’t working at Ibrox, and a move will benefit both parties.

Meanwhile, former Rangers star Joe Worrall shone for Nottingham Forest in their FA Cup defeat to Liverpool as West Ham are interested in the defender.
