Rangers’ record sale of Nathan Patterson can prove to be the catalyst in the Ibrox side demanding top fees from buying clubs as we aim to match our Old Firm rivals Celtic with regards to profits on players.
Celtic were of course boosted by the sales of Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer which substantially bumped up their profits and there is no reason why the Gers can’t look to do the same over the next few seasons.

Rangers have more valuable assets than ever; the key is knowing when to sell
Rangers have developed a side that now knows how to win the league and is hungry for more success. The onus is on the squad to prove that last year wasn’t a one-off and repeat the trick this season.
Players such as Alfredo Morelos, Joe Aribo, Ryan Kent, and Glen Kamara are all incredibly valuable assets, and should we sell them, major fees should be demanded.
There is absolutely no reason why Aribo can’t be sold for more than £20m when some of the transfer fees down south are ludicrous, for players of inferior quality.
The time for penny-pinching has to stop as both Celtic and Rangers have accrued excellent players recently, ultimately the nature of the game means we are still selling clubs, but the profit margin should be much higher now.
With Nathan Patterson joining Everton for a fee potentially reaching up to £16m, then this should prove to be the catalyst in a new Rangers transfer strategy that allows us to control the negotiations, not the buying team.
The first step in this plan is to qualify for the Champions League group stages. Having the likes of Morelos and Kamara shining on the greatest stage of all will be crucial in maximising any potential profit.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst may well face an interesting first summer transfer window in charge of the side.
In other news, Rangers have been handed another Europa League boost as Borussia Dortmund appears to be in disarray.
