Rangers have a long way to go before they can be classed as being stable, however, things are certainly heading in the right direction.
The San Francisco 49ers takeover timeline has been given a May date which aligns with any possible transfer guarantees that the current owners sought as part of the deal.
Aside from Patrick Stewart hiring a sporting director, there is also the small matter of a new Rangers manager needing to be found with one name never far from the headlines.
Steven Gerrard is available, he also knows what it takes to bring success back to Ibrox and how to build a Rangers squad capable of competing.
Gerrard might split fans’ opinion, but if he tried to bring MIchael Beale back as his assistant or first-team coach, it wouldn’t go down well with the Ibrox faithful.

Why Michael Beale would get a frosty reception on Rangers return
Beale’s domestic record as manager, even if it is a small sample size, is better than most in terms of win percentage, however, there are a number of reasons why his return wouldn’t be well received.
His lengthy press conferences would meander into a world of contradiction.
In the same sentence Beale would refuse to talk about players at other clubs who might be transfer targets, before detailing how long he has known them, their shoe size and favourite meal.
There was also the promise of him “taking the handbrake off”, instead, it was what fans feared the most – the worst of Gerrard’s tenure, but with a poorer Rangers squad.
Side to side, backwards, and crosses thrown into the box.
It’s a lot easier to say you are going to play attacking football than to actually deliver it.
The highly thought of coach might be good on the training ground, one thing he isn’t good at though is identifying and signing players suitable for the SPFL.
After Ross Wilson departed as sporting director, Beale had almost a free reign in terms of recruitment and it didn’t go well.
Poor recruitment, a Rangers pub and the X burner account
Each time a player was signed, he would talk about how long he has admired them, or how long he has watched them for.
Sam Lammers, Kieran Dowell and Jose Cifuentes, players who Beale bigged up and claimed would take Rangers to another level.
The next level being back the way.
The form of Cyriel Dessers, continues to confuse everyone. He should be a hero when performances like his one against Fenerbahce are considered, but there are too many in the bread and butter of the Scottish Premiership where his lack of pace and athleticism is a real issue.
His conversion rate compared to Erling Haaland means that he is more consistent in front of goal, but after losing Alfredo Morelos, Antonio Colak and Fashion Sakala, Dessers wasn’t the “something different” that fans expected and Beale promised.
What still doesn’t sit right with fans though, is how Beale sat in a Rangers pub and in the directors’ box at Ibrox whilst Giovanni van Bronckhorst was under pressure.
It was a bizarre incident and very un-Rangers manager-like behaviour, to suggest that he wasn’t there to tout himself for the job or spoke to the club’s owners about it is insulting and then there was the burner X account.
Gerrard might be grudginly accepted given his standards and presence, Beale certainly wouldn’t be for his.
