Michael Stewart makes baffling Findlay Curtis claim that will leave Rangers officials in hysterics

Michael Stewart has made a bizarre suggestion on Rangers youngster Findlay Curtis ahead of the summer transfer window.

Curtis spent the second half of this past season on loan at Kilmarnock, where he impressed many, including Scotland manager Steve Clarke.

That is why the 19-year-old has been called up to the World Cup squad, which will make his stock rise even more.

Michael Stewart urges Hearts to sign Findlay Curtis to replace Lawrence Shankland

Michael Stewart believes that Findlay Curtis could be a good replacement for Lawrence Shankland at Hearts this summer.

Rangers are set to sign Shankland, leaving a big void in the Tynecastle outfit’s starting eleven.

The Scotland striker was their best player and leader, and is undoubtedly going to be a huge miss for them.

Stewart believes that the 19-year-old midfielder will not get enough game time at Ibrox if he ends up staying put.

He sees him as a difference maker and has urged the Scottish Premiership runners-up to make a move for him.

The former Hearts midfielder told the Scottish Football Social Club: “See if I was Hearts, talking about like a Findlay Curtis, they need to be at stage if he is not getting the game time he needs or should get at Rangers, they should be going and making a bid.

“Spend a bit of money, speculate because you know this guy is a difference maker.

“He is top class, and you’d make that money back tenfold in the future.”

Why Rangers officials will laugh at Stewart’s suggestion about Curtis

Stewart is out of his mind for thinking that Hearts can afford the services of Curtis in the summer transfer window.

They spent a little over £3.2m last summer, and ahead of next season, with European revenue, they still will not be able to match the level of spending of Rangers and Celtic.

The sale of Shankland is not going to be lucrative for them due to a clause in his contract, so it’s not like they can use that money to strengthen the squad.

Hearts’ record signing was Eduardo Ageu, who joined the club last summer for a £1.7m fee.

If they are to sign Curtis, it is going to be significantly higher than that, and they’re not likely to shell out that kind of money on a player who has not been a first-team regular for a full season yet.

Stewart is completely off it with that suggestion, and there is little to no chance that Hearts will buy the young Scotsman permanently.
