Major Rangers inclusion can provide support much-needed Ibrox boost

As Rangers prepare to welcome Hearts, the inclusion of Aaron Ramsey on top of three points can provide the support with a much-needed boost.

The Juventus loanee, 31, was signed on a deadline day and generated huge momentum after the weekend’s draw with Ross County.

It lasted all of two days as the balloon was burst by the sharp pin of that first-half performance in the 3-0 defeat to Celtic.

All attention now turns to the next round of fixtures and Rangers quite simply have to find a way to overcome Hearts at Ibrox or risk a monumental collapse that would probably outdo Steven Gerrard circa 2018-2020.

Three points are the order of the day v Scotland’s current third force and how we get them is probably secondary, although with some style and energy would be nice.

But beyond that just a sighting of Aaron Ramsey in a Rangers shirt against Hearts has the power to lift the crowd and it would be sensible and smart management to have him play.

Whilst Aaron Ramsey hasn’t played a first team match since turning out for Wales in November, his time working with the Juventus first team suggests he can’t be far from a first-team inclusion at Ibrox.

Rangers boss confirms Aaron Ramsey could feature v Hearts

Aaron Ramsey’s time in training and not just the background in Italy isn’t the only thing either, with van Bronckhorst confirming the ex-Arsenal midfielder is in consideration.

The Dutchman also provided an update on other key Rangers players as he previewed the Scottish Premiership clash with Hearts.

“Alfredo trained on Friday. He came back late on Thursday night,” said Giovanni van Bronckhorst [Rangers].

“I think he had three flights again coming back from Colombia but he trained as normal on Friday and he will be available for Sunday.

“The only one who is not available is (Ianis) Hagi, of course, with his injury. The other ones are available.

“Aaron Ramsey had a session on Friday that also went really good. We have to assess him today but he looks good as well. So we can add more players on Sunday.”

The inclusion of Aaron Ramsey would be a welcome boost for Rangers supporters, but three points is ultimately the most important thing of all v Hearts.

Whilst fans might be licking their wounds after defeat to Celtic, the Ibrox squad can look to the team of 2011 for inspiration when it comes to the rest of the campaign.
