He was hooked against Motherwell but dynamo could play key role for Philippe Clement in Rangers title push

Philippe Clement will want all hands to the pump when Rangers return to domestic action against Hibernian this weekend.

The Gers boss is getting more players back fit in his squad and there will be others who have had little influence during the season who could yet play key roles.

Several members of his forward line are still missing but Phillipe Clement is approaching full strength in almost every other department of his Rangers team.

Philippe Clement needs Nicolas Raskin to step up for Rangers

Before the international break we saw Rabbi Matondo, Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin all return to the team and start playing minutes.

Three players who were all an integral part of the team before Clement arrived.

With no Oscar Cortes and Abdallah Sima only just back in training, there is still a shortage of quality wingers.

Matondo has been away with Wales but didn’t see any game time as they missed out in qualifying for the European Championships via the drama of a penalty shoot-out against Poland.

Fabio Silva has stepped up and looked good out wide recently, he has also been on form during the international break for Portugal Under-21’s.

The team will look a lot stronger if both players are on the pitch at the same time.

They can beat players 1v1 and cause problems with their pace.

It is in midfield where most of our games are won and lost though, control the tempo, control the game.

He’s almost became the forgotten man under Philippe Clement but Nico Raskin can play a big part in Rangers success in the coming weeks and months.

What Nicolas Raskin would bring to Rangers for title run-in

Looking on Data MB, the Belgian has played well in terms of the numbers he is hitting but, he has clearly failed to hit the heights expected of him despite performing better that last season, on paper.

You would think that, under a manager who loves to play on the front foot, that his dynamic and aggressive style will be the perfect match.

As yet, it hasn’t quite worked out like that.

Dujon Sterling has been playing well on the right-hand side of the attack and should only be needed for midfield in emergencies.

Diomande and Raskin both offer the sort of intent and mindset needed to keep teams under pressure.

We won’t be able to play the same XI in every game so, when he is called upon, Raskin has to put in the sort of display that got us so excited when he first signed.

If he reaches the levels that he is capable of, that dream move to Chelsea might not be as ridiculous as it has seemed at times this season.
