Steven Gerrard’s Liverpool connection was always going to be fruitful at Ibrox. And in the shape of Ovie Ejaria, we got a talented young playmaker eager to make his mark at a big club.
At least we thought.
Whilst at times Ovie Ejaria has shown what he’s capable of in a blue shirt, on the whole he’s really not offered enough.
Some flicks and tricks and nice composure don’t make up for two goals and a solitary assist in 29 matches. He’s supposed to be the creative option in midfield. He hasn’t supplied the final product enough and it feels like he hides when the chips are down.
There are rumours aplenty that he’s heading back to Liverpool. The 20 year old Rangers midfielder deleted all and any association with the club from his social media.
It’s certainly not definitive, but in today’s day and age it could be seen as passive aggressive. Ejaria was also not included in the squad for last night’s massive match with Vienna.
It looks like the tricky Liverpool playmaker’s Rangers career could well be up. Though I doubt many fans will lose sleep over it.
He offered much promise but at times it felt like a bit of a charade. A technically gifted youngster with little or no end-product. All showmanship and build up with no finale.
We wish him all the best if the rumours are true. Ovie is still a young boy with lot’s to learn in the game. Sometimes, for whatever reason, things don’t work out.
If he remains, we hope Ovie knuckles down because there is obviously a talented player there.
And if he’s gone, he’ll join another loanee out the Ibrox door as he leaves.
