Josh Windass scored in a penalty shootout win for Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, just days after a transfer which reportedly benefitted Rangers.
The 26-year-old attacker left the Gers for Wigan Athletic in 2018 for a reported £2.5m [Scottish Sun].

However, the Latics have since run into major financial problems and still owed Rangers a substantial portion of that transfer fee.
Therefore, it was the Gers who reportedly benefitted last week when Sheffield Wednesday stumped up a six-figure fee to sign Windass permanently, following his loan spell at Hillsborough last season [swfc.co.uk].

It didn’t take the Englishman long to make an impact for his new club, either.
He wasn’t deemed fit enough to start the Owls’ first competitive fixture of 2020/21 against Walsall in the EFL Cup at the weekend but he was included on the bench and Garry Monk threw him into the action in the 66th minute.
Windass didn’t manage to lift his side in open play, as the poor game petered out into a 0-0 draw.
However, he did step up to the plate in the resulting penalty shoot-out, converting his side’s second spot-kick as misses from opposition players Josh Gordon and Alfie Bates saw Wednesday emerge 4-2 winners, booking them a place in the second round.
Plenty of Owls supporters were delighted with the signing of a player who divided opinion during his stint at Ibrox and they’ll be hoping he has a telling say once again in their opening Championship fixture away to Cardiff on Saturday.
