Controversial whistler Willie Collum has been selected as the referee for Rangers’ Scottish Premiership opener with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday.
The contentious referee took charge of the last Rangers Kilmarnock match at Rugby Park (coincidentally the last game of last season) and awarded Killie a dubious penalty.
It had Rangers fans furious and they’ll be rueing the appointment of the referee, who’s end-of-season game last campaign was the first Rangers one he’d refereed in six months.

Rangers of course famously called Collum out in a damning statement after the Scottish ref sent Daniel Candeias off at St. Mirren in November last year.
The Ibrox club claimed that it was “by no means the first time errors of judgement have been made” by Collum and claimed, “there is an underlying issue which requires to be addressed”.
Now, Collum will once again be under the spotlight as Rangers travel to hammer throwers Kilmarnock.
Under the control of new manager Angelo Alessio, Killie are something of an unknown quantity.
Despite losing to Welsh part-timers Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Europa League, they have had a few weeks to prepare for this fixture.

It could be a challenging game and it’s a tricky league opener at a ground we failed to win at in the Scottish Premiership last season.
Let’s hope we’re talking about the football after the match and not another dubious decision by the controversial Willie Collum.
