Glenn Middleton might’ve banged in a double as the Rangers reserves beat their Celtic equivalents 2-0, but another youth talent caught the eye in Stephen Kelly.
Alongside Middleton, the young Rangers midfielder has put in two outstanding performances in the last two reserves matches.
Against Hibs, Kelly scored a late free-kick winner as Rangers won 3-2. Against Celtic, 19-year-old Kelly was instrumental in both of Glenn Middleton’s goals.

The youngster won the ball back inside the Rangers half for the first and kickstarted a move that also involved Kai Kennedy and ended with Middleton finding the back of the net.
For the second it was Kelly who provided the final ball for Middleton to whip it past the Celtic goalkeeper.
The victory sends Rangers top of the Reserves League. If Rangers can win their final two matches they will win the division. Stephen Kelly has been instrumental to that success.
The Rangers midfielder has already broken through the Rangers first team this season. He made his debut against Ayr United in the Betfred Cup back in September.

Graeme Murty said he was “massively benefitting” from first-team exposure [originally Rangers.co.uk].
If he continues to impress at Reserves level then there’s no doubt he’ll be in the first team more consistently before long.
Don’t be surprised to see him turn out for Rangers again before the season finishes.
