Will Rangers be priced out of a move for Fran Sol?

Rangers are amongst a host of clubs linked with Real Madrid Academy graduate and Willem II striker Fran Sol.

The club are desperate to add strength in depth up front and the prolific Spaniard certainly fits the bill.

TeamTalk reported last week that Rangers were eyeing the 12 goal 26 year old striker alongside rivals Celtic. There is also rumoured to be a host of Premier League and Championship clubs including Huddersfield and Leeds United.

Still only 26, it would be an exciting signing by the club. Compared to Umar Sadiq, he’s practically Robert Lewandowski.

The former Real Madrid graduate joined Willem from Villarreal in 2016 and has already racked up nearly 50 league goals. He’s prolific, capable and a real option up front.

But will Rangers be priced out of any potential move? If rumours are true and Rangers are one of many interested, how can the Ibrox club compete? Compared to the megabucks of England and the financially superior Celtic, Rangers wouldn’t be able to offer the same money that they could.

That’s even if we can keep up with the bidding.

But Rangers has a different allure for certain types of players. Ibrox, the fans and the history of the club are invaluable assets and a huge pull for potential signings.

But if it comes down to money alone we’re unlikely to be able to compete for Fran Sol’s signature.
