Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Derby County left-back Max Lowe [Daily Record].
Currently on-loan at Aberdeen, the highly rated 22-year-old has had an impressive season in Scotland. Derby are thought to have big plans for the player’s future, but they are reportedly open to him going out on-loan again next year.
Left-back has proven a troublesome position for Rangers this year. And should the Gers beat Aberdeen to the player’s signature, what does it mean for Borna Barisic?

The Croatian international left-back has struggled to settle since joining Rangers last year. Barisic has shown rare flashes of his ability, but he has spent much of the campaign on the treatment table.
When he has played, he has not shown enough in Royal Blue to hold down a place. The likes of Andy Halliday, and currently John Flanagan, have been preferred at times this season.
Borna Barisic’s future was in doubt
There was also talk of a rift between the player and Gerrard after a torrid bounce match against a Liverpool select. Reports claimed he was set to be sold in the summer [the Herald].
But Barisic himself has been quick to come out and put any of those rumours to bed. He claims he has a good relationship with Steven Gerrard and that he’s committed to Rangers [Sportske Jutarnji].
The truth is, even with Barisic in the squad, Rangers are incredibly light in the left-back position. Any move for Derby’s Max Lowe is unlikely to influence a decision on Borna Barisic.

If anything, he may provide more direct competition for the Croatian and force him to up his game.
That’s if he remains at Ibrox beyond the next transfer window.
