What kind of midfielder are Rangers getting in Glen Kamara?

With the transfer window coming to an end, it looked like Rangers had wrapped up their shopping with the signing of ex-Chicago Fire midfielder Matt Polster.
However, at the last minute, the club managed to secure Finnish international Glen Kamara. Much to the delight of supporters.
But what kind of player are Rangers getting in the now ex-Dundee midfielder?

Most supporters will have seen very little of the Arsenal Academy graduate, barring a few glances at Dundee’s highlights.

Gerrard visibly excited about the prospect of Kamara

When asked about the signing in a pre-match press conference, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard described it as a “major bonus”.
“I love my midfield players who play with their head up, who look to pass forward and make things happen,” said Gerrard. “And I like my midfielders to win the ball back and be aggressive”.

From this, it’s clear Gerrard sees Kamara as a robust yet creative option in midfield. A ball-winning, aggressive player who also has the ability to play a pass. It makes sense why former Dundee boss Neil McCann compared him to Arsenal and France legend Patrick Viera when speaking to The Daily Record.
If Rangers have just signed a player with even half the talent of Viera, we’re on to a winner. A Finnish international, Kamara is also a solid international player and has been offered the opportunity to get settled at Ibrox.
Rangers have tied Kamara down
He’s signed a four-and-a-half-year deal, proving exactly what Rangers think of him. Still only 23, Gerrard clearly thinks there’s more to come from the midfielder.
It’s a move which will excite fans and it’ll also be interesting to see how he fits into Gerrard’s plans.

Kamara had originally signed a pre-contract agreement at the beginning of the month, along with Killie winger Jordan Jones.

Dundee boss Jim McIntyre had also spoke to Sky Sports about the midfielder’s desire to join Rangers sooner rather than later.
The deal was eventually concluded on deadline day.
