Premier League West Ham have launched a Deadline Day move for Rangers-linked Peterborough centre-back Ronnie Edwards.
That’s according to the London Evening Standard, who claim that the two clubs are now negotiating over a transfer fee for the England youth international.
With West Ham now launching a “formal bid” for Ronnie Edwards, the London club are now the frontrunners to sign the England U19 Euros winner and U20s World Cup star.
The report mentions historic interest in Ronnie Edwards from Chelsea and Crystal Palace with the centre-back left out of the club’s League Cup win over Portsmouth.
It comes ahead of a potentially busy Deadline Day for the Hammers with German centre-back Thilo Kehrer linked with a move out of the club whilst Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto and PSG star Hugo Ekitike linked with moves to East London.

West Ham move for Ronnie Edwards as Rangers look elsewhere
It comes after Rangers were linked with a move for Ronnie Edwards earlier in the summer by BBC Sport although the prices involved in a deal appeared to make an Ibrox move unrealistic.
Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson has claimed he expects the defender to go for big money and he’s not the only one.
Outspoken Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has previously tipped Ronnie Edwards to be a £70m player so West Ham will likely have to cough up.
Club director Barry Fry has also previously suggested that Rangers could not afford to finance a deal for the highly-rated centre-back.

That said, Rangers are said to be interested in a move for a new centre-back with all the sounds surrounding Leicester City’s Harry Souttar.
Reports are suggesting that Rangers are targeting a late loan move for the centre-back with the player interested in making the switch up north.
But as far as Ronnie Edwards is concerned, it appears Rangers have been priced out a move with West Ham now hoping to secure a Deadline Day deal.
