You get the feeling that whilst Bruno Alves was at Rangers we never seen the best of the big Portuguese defender.
Between a lack of stability in the background at the club and a lack of enthusiasm from Alves himself, we were probably never going to.
But he did show flashes of what he could do. Particularly on dead balls. And he’s just fired in one of those trademark freekicks against one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Now plying his trade with Parma in Serie A, Bruno Alves smashes in a beauty to make it 1-1 against AC Milan.
The Rangers connection doesn’t end there either. AC Milan are managed by former Rangers midfielder Rino Gattuso.
And the little Italian would’ve been raging come full time as his side dropped two points in a tight European race in the Italian top tier.
By the same token, a trademark Bruno bullet was enough to rescue a point for Parma against the European giants. They currently sit mid-table in Italy.
Despite not living up to expectations at Ibrox, Rangers fans are more than familiar with the freekicks of the big centre half. Alves got two dead-ball strikes for Rangers.

Alves scored a free kick in the 6-0 League Cup win over Dunfermline last season. The defender also scored a long-range freekick in the 5-5 thriller against Hibs at Easter Road.
He showed his class again with this freekick against AC Milan, but did he throw in the towel too early at Ibrox?
