When Rangers signed Joe Dodoo, Mark Warburton claimed Rangers had just signed a player of “great potential” and someone the club was “delighted” to sign.
Over the last three seasons, the former Leicester youth striker has failed to live up to those expectations.
But has the Ghanian forward’s failure to make an impression at Ibrox been completely all his fault?

This is an athletic player who was once said to have a bright enough future in football. Rangers thought they had pulled off somewhat of a coup with the then 21-year-old’s signature.
The youngster got a hattrick on his full Leicester City debut. Rangers fans were quite rightly intrigued by his signature. The reported £250k fee was supposed to be a bargain.
But – a strong late showing against Partick Thistle in his first season aside – Joe has not as much been Dodoo as he has been Dodon’t.
The player played 25 times in season one and managed five goals. In the second season, he didn’t play for Rangers at all and was farmed out to Blackpool on loan, where he returned this season.

With one year left on his deal, the striker is running out of time to make an impression at Rangers. It is highly unlikely he’ll still be at the club come the beginning of next season.
But stopping short of calling the player a complete flop at the club, he obviously didn’t do enough during his time here.
He might’ve not always got the opportunities, but was he is ever of sufficient quality in the first place?
