Under-fire Sky Sports pundit Ian Crocker appeared to indirectly respond to recent Rangers fan criticism over his coverage of both the club and striker Alfredo Morelos.

Ian Crocker and ex-Celtic striker Andy Walker took both barrels from the Gers support with their insistence the Colombian should be retrospectively banned dominating the coverage of the Gers’ 1-0 win over Hibs.

For many Rangers supporters, both commentators would never give such attention to these incidents with any other players and their desperation is part of the reason why Morelos appears to be judged to a much higher standard.

Trial by Sportscene or Sky is a hot topic of debate with Morelos now set to miss three matches after Rangers accepted the striker’s charge and subsequent ban for violent conduct.

The matter certainly isn’t closed with Rangers fans expecting their club to come out fighting on this, with the general feeling in Ibrox that Morelos is held to a different standard than other players.

Crocker, however, has rejected claims of bias and took to Twitter to give his two cents amid the argument.

Quoting an article looking at the abuse of commentators [Football365] – particularly down south – Crocker quotes the following statement, describing it as “spot on”:

“And the sight of fans of a club accusing the commentators or co-comms of being biased against them is one of football’s most enervating experiences.

“Biased person accuses people of being biased against them is a bilious spectacle, almost laughable if it wasn’t so witless. Everyone, be it a co-comm or pundit, just calls it as they see it.

“It might not be as you see it, but it’s worth remembering views other than your own exist. And there is no stipulation nor obligation to be even-handed, either. That isn’t the gig.

“And what does biased even mean anyway?

“It appears a substantial number of people feel their own view is the default unbiased and neutral standard and anything which strays from that is therefore biased. Be in no doubt, this is insane and it is everywhere, in all walks of life now.”

Crocker’s indirect response to recent claims of bias drew the ire of some Rangers fans who were quick to point out his coverage of the Colombian striker. Read more in the response to the Tweet HERE.
