As if Rangers’ progression to the Europa League quarter-finals wasn’t bad enough for Celtic fans, spare a thought for them after UEFA congratulated the Gers on 150 years of unbroken history.

The Parkhead side are always quick to jump onto anything Rangers related online and fans have been kept very entertained this season as the Ibrox side celebrate turning 150.

For Celtic supporters still stuck in 2012, Rangers are a new club, with new fans, and new history but they hate them just as much as the old team that played at Ibrox.

This confused bunch of legal experts and administration aficionados might be obsessive but at least they’re always good for a laugh.

Last week it was BBC Scotland sending the Celtic support into a spiral by documenting 150 years of the famous team down Edmiston Drive and this time around UEFA have risked their ire.

Celtic fans fume at UEFA Rangers 150th anniversary tweet

Congratulating Rangers – quarter-finalists in the competition with Celtic fans watching on having not won a knockout round tie since 2004 – members of the Parkhead support took umbrage with the message.

UEFA made mention of the special friendly with the Luis Figo foundation over the international break, which raised money for the legendary Portuguese winger’s charity whilst also celebrating Rangers’ 150th birthday.

This didn’t go down too well with Parkhead supporters, who were sent into a spiralling meltdown over European football’s governing body once again recognising the facts.

The comments section on the Tweet is a genuine joy to behold so grab the popcorn, load it up and have a laugh in the general direction of all these rival fans getting so upset online.

A confused bunch, these are the same fans who want the “old allocation” returned for a fixture that no longer exists or are willing to plug an Old Firm derby in Australia.

Whatever the case, there promises to be plenty more of this to come this season as Rangers celebrate turning 150 and Celtic fans continue to bleat into the void.

Meanwhile, one Rangers star claims he eventually wants to return to the club where he first made his name.
