New manager Philippe Clement took training at Rangers today with youngsters Adam Devine and Arron Lyall spotted being put through their paces at Auchenhowie.

There were a few interesting sights as the former Monaco, Club Brugge and Genk boss got himself accustomed to life at Rangers on Tuesday.

In one picture, provided by Rangers’ official website, Philippe Clement appears to be giving out instructions to his fellow Belgian Nicolas Raskin, a player who spoke in glowing terms about the 49-year-old prior to his appointment over the weekend.

And you could hardly miss Danilo. The striker sporting a mask as blue as the Gers’ home shirt as he steps up his recovery from a fractured cheekbone. The more eagle eyed among you, however, may have also spotted Adam Devine and Arron Lyall, a pair of highly-rated youngsters also looking to make a good first impression under the club’s imposing, 6ft 3ins giant of a tactician

Philippe Clement takes Rangers training

20-year-old, Glasgow-born Devine made five Scottish Premiership appearances last term, his versatility coming in very handy early on in Mick Beale’s reign. Devine can play on the right or the left of the backline, and thus provides useful back-up behind the likes of James Tavernier, Borna Barisic, Ridvan Yilmaz and Dujon Sterling.

Arron Lyall, in contrast, is yet to enjoy such first-team exposure. Devine’s fellow 20-year-old has made only one league appearance thus far and, while highly-rated at Auchenhowie, arguably remains behind fellow youngsters Zak Lovelace and Ross McCausland in the pecking order.

Nonetheless, the sight of Lyall training alongside the likes of Raskin, Danilo, Kemar Roofe and the rest of Rangers’ first-team roster suggests that the winger is on the right track.

Danilo and Todd Cantwell set to return

Clement will make his official debut in the Ibrox dugout when Hibernian travel to Glasgow this weekend. It remains to be seen whether Devine and/or Lyall will be rewarded with a place in the squad, though the return from injury of both Danilo and Todd Cantwell is an early boost to kick-start the Clement era.
