A trio of high-profile clubs have been linked with a move for stand-out Hibs teenager Josh Doig just a month after he impressed Rangers fans at Ibrox.
Doig, 18, was a stand-out performer for Hibs in their 1-0 defeat on Boxing Day and now Sky Sports are reporting Celtic, Arsenal and Chelsea are all monitoring the defender.
The left-back – who only broke through into the Hibs team this season – was also involved in the Easter Road club’s 1-0 home defeat to Rangers this week.
The match with Rangers was Doig’s 20th appearance of the season for Hibs but despite showing flashes of his ability didn’t quite meet the expectations of previous performances.
Doig was eventually subbed in the second half after receiving a yellow card for a late challenge on Glen Kamara but it will do little to dampen any interest in the player.
According to the Sky Sports report, Celtic won’t move for the left-back in this window but have one eye on the player for the summer.
Currently contracted to Easter Road until 2023 and a current Scotland U18 international, Doig claims he was praised by James Tavernier back in late-December for his performance at Ibrox [Edinburgh Live].
Rangers might not be one of the clubs being linked by the former Hearts youth is one of the fastest-emerging young talents in Scotland and has certainly caught the eye this season.
It’s not just against Rangers either – Doig has been a stand-out performer against Old Firm rivals Celtic this season too.
