Rangers fans were celebrating after yet another pivotal footballing weekend in the Scottish Premiership as Hibs did the Gers a favour by taking points off Celtic.
The Gers supporters were already buoyed by a superb Rangers performance in the 2-1 win over Aberdeen and Hibs helped maintain a 21-point lead in the Scottish Premiership courtesy of the draw.
Hibs star Kevin Nisbet grabbed the headlines with a late equaliser at Celtic Park but there was one young Easter Road player who also caught the eye of Rangers fans.
Josh Doig might only be 18, but the talented left-back cuts a composed figure with experience way beyond his years.
The full-back is one of Hibs’ brightest young talents and he continues to impress with the Easter Road club, even keeping Hibees legend Lewis Stevenson out of the side.
Against Celtic, Doig was once again a positive and capable outlet for Hibs and the Rangers support were quick to notice this stand-out player who also had a good game at Ibrox in December.
Doig played so well in the Boxing Day clash – which Rangers won 1-0 – Gers captain James Tavernier congratulated the kid for putting the shackles on him [Edinburgh Live].
The kid might only be 18 – and Hibs might be the best place for his development at this point – but Rangers fans have asked the question over whether he might interest Rangers in the future.
Rangers are obviously well-stocked at left-back with Borna Barisic and Calvin Bassey but Doig is certainly one player the club might keep an eye on for the future.
Doig isn’t the only talented young player at Hibs and another of their key men has caught the eye of Rangers fans recently with the Gers being urged to “sign him up”.
