TNS midfielder Jon Routledge singled out two players for praise after the Welsh side were defeated 1-0 by Rangers in a closed-door bounce game.
Jermain Defoe got the only goal as Steven Gerrard used two different XIs in each half, but it wasn’t the veteran striker who caught Routledge’s eye.
He singled out special praise for pre-contract signings Joe Aribo and Jordan Jones.

“The two Rangers players that stood out the most and caught the eye were Jordan Jones and Joe Aribo,” said Routledge, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“It is very early days but Jones has the makings of being a really good player.

“Just being in and around experienced pros like Defoe and Steve Davis can help enhance his game further.
“Jones will thrive under the pressure and will gradually improve because he will be playing alongside better players at Rangers.
“Aribo also looked like a very accomplished footballer and he possesses some decent ability.

“I can totally understand why Rangers were keen to get him on board this summer.”

“The good thing for Rangers is Aribo seems like the type who will get even better once he has settled in at Ibrox and got to grips with the nature and pace of Scottish football.
“I feel Aribo is a player who could really flourish under the Rangers coaching and management team of Gerrard and Gary McAllister.
“If the truth be told I ended up knackered chasing Aribo and Jones around the pitch!”

The comments of Jon Routledge are very encouraging for Rangers fans with both players still young and offering a lot of promise.

More than that, they both joined on bargain pre-contracts and could go on to be massive players for the club.
Jones has been touted by some to fill the gap left by Ryan Kent should the Liverpool winger fail to rejoin Rangers , whilst Rangers beat a reported 17 clubs to the signing of Joe Aribo [Scottish Sun].
