The final whisky in a special limited edition run of Rangers bottles in partnership with Douglas Laing has officially sold out within hours of going on sale.

The special run of three bottles culminated in the release of a 12-year-old single cask single malt which completes the trio for collectors.

With only 360 of the bottles released Rangers fans would’ve been grappling for a taste as supporters scrambled to get their hands on these special edition releases.

This particular bottle was distilled at the Caol Ila Distillery on Islay and is 46% proof, with the tasting notes suggesting “rock pools and charred oak alongside peat smoke, honeyed barley and citrus fruits”.

The release of the Islay malt comes after a special 13-year-old Glenrothes Distillery malt which also sold out within hours of going on sale.

Supporters and whisky collectors would then go on to sell out the 2nd run within hours, this time a 30-year-old single grain whisky from Port Dundas.

Marketing director James Bisgrove has praised the partnership with  Douglas Laing in an email sent to MyGers members earlier in the season.

“Rangers are very proud to be launching an officially licensed scotch whisky series with Douglas Laing – together we have created a trio of exceptional, limited edition whiskies that are set to be enjoyed by fans all around the world,” said Bisgrove.

“The Single Cask Single Malt whisky range marks the first of many launches with Douglas Laing and we look forward to releasing further special edition products in the future.”

Well done to any supporters who managed to collect any or all of this special trio which – unless collecting – could make a perfect toast to a long-awaited league championship.

For any fans who missed out and still want to purchase similar products the Douglas Laing website claims that “additional products are planned for early 2021 so stay tuned for more”.
