Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards has claimed that England and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard “would like” to become the next manager of Rangers.

Speaking on the BBC’s Football Gossip Daily podcast (02/10), Luke Edwards added fuel to the fire surrounding Frank Lampard who is one of several names being linked to replace Michael Beale at Ibrox.

Claiming that the Rangers job remains one of the biggest in British football, the journalist claims that Chelsea legend Lamps is almost certain to be in for the gig after being sacked by Everton in March.

“It really is an attractive job,” Luke Edwards said.

“I think it is still one of the great jobs in British football. The problem the Scottish league has is that it doesn’t have the same money as the Premier League.

“Obviously Steven Gerrard went up there. I’m sure Frank Lampard would like it.

Frank Lampard “would like” Rangers manager’s job

Whilst Luke Edwards claims Frank Lampard would like to become the next Rangers manager, the journalist names Graham Potter is the “outstanding” candidate.

However the Telegraph writer backs up the suggestion that the former Chelsea and Brighton manager has instead got eyes on a return to the Premier League.

Frank Lampard has also been speaking amid those links to the Rangers manager’s job and was giving little away on Sky Sports.

Claiming that he’s enjoying being away from the pressure of top level football management, it appears the legendary former England midfielder is in no rush to return.

“I think [stress]comes with the territory with managing, especially the stress of the Premier League, the expectations… in any job,” said Lampard.

“I think it’s important that you try and find the time out of the game to recharge a bit, enjoy things you don’t get the chance to do when you’re working, so I’m probably in that spot at the moment.”

According to Scottish journalist Barry Anderson, Frank Lampard is on a shortlist with Chris Wilder and Kevin Muscat to take over as the new Rangers manager.
