Philippe Clement has been under fire for much of the season following a slow start for Rangers that has never fully kicked into gear.
The manager has had to face calls for him to be sacked but continues to work with a squad that simply can’t compete with the one across the city that has the luxury of having an £11m midfielder and £9m striker on the bench in the last three derbies.
Yes, the gap should be a lot closer, however, does Rangers league form suggest that a corner has been turned and that, with new additions, a title challenge could be sustained?

Why Rangers are on the right tracks under Philippe Clement
Speaking after the dominant display against Aberdeen, Clement was adamant that his side are finally on the right tracks:
“It’s about creating this consistency with the players and they learn,” said the Gers boss.
“You see the team growing and more players understanding what to do and when.
“We could have scored a second goal in the first half. We had enough chances and we weren’t efficient enough.
“We hit the bar and post and we knew we needed to score the second goal to kill the belief of the opponent. We were pushing for that.”
Scottish Premiership form guide sees Rangers turn a corner
Looking at the last 10 Scottish Premiership fixtures Rangers currently sit second behind Celtic with just a two-point gap.
Hearts and Hibernian aren’t far behind given their respective recent upturn in fortunes, but there is no getting away from the improvement in the Ibrox outfit.
Not only are Rangers top goalscorers over this period, but they have also conceded the second lowest amount of goals with just two more than Celtic.
| Club | Games | For | Against | Points |
| Celtic | 10 | 24 | 7 | 23 |
| Rangers | 10 | 27 | 9 | 21 |
| Hibernian | 10 | 20 | 12 | 21 |
| Hearts | 10 | 13 | 9 | 18 |
| Dundee United | 10 | 12 | 10 | 17 |
This gives the two Old Firm teams the same goal difference over the last 10 fixtures.
Ultimately, this means nothing.
What is should do, is highlight that, with the right players, Clement could be the right man to lead Rangers.
However, it is a big if.
