Philippe Clement noticed something at Ibrox that delighted him as Aberdeen win dedicated to fans

Rangers thumped sorry Aberdeen by three goals to nil and could have scored more.

It was a Gers performance and result to be enthused about and as a result the atmosphere inside Ibrox was getting back to what it should be.

While the away form has been dreadful, the opposite has been true at home and the team carried that on last night.

But after the issues with the Union Bears walkout against St Johnstone, it felt there was at least some sort of connection with the supporters back last night.

There were more protests towards the Rangers board from the ultras group but the team were backed and responded in style.

Post-match, Philippe Clement was full of praise for young defender Clintion Nsiala for another assured display and also namechecked Ridvan Yilmaz for his contribution.

But the Gers manager also had a word for the support.

Clement pleased with Rangers ‘synergy’

Clement addressed the Rangers fans’ walkout both before and after the St Johnstone game. It is no a situation any manager would want to have to deal with but he accepted the supporters’ frustration and right to protest.

Just days on from that, the Belgian was thrilled to see a connection back between the pitch and the stands.

And the ‘synergy’ with the fans is what pleased him the most about an all-round pleasing night.

Clement said: “At the end, the synergy with the fans pleased me most. You could see everyone was really happy.

“I’m happy with the team performance and you see the energy in the stands then.

“They can go home happy with what they saw and what this team’s capable of.

“It was almost full domination of the game. That’s what you want.

“It’s about creating this consistency with the players and they learn.

“You see the team growing and more players understanding what to do and when.

“We could have scored a second goal in the first half. We had enough chances and we weren’t efficient enough.

“We hit the bar and post and we knew we needed to score the second goal to kill the belief of the opponent. We were pushing for that.”

Clement hails Nsiala and Yilmaz

Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, the Gers boss said: “I’m really proud of Clinton Nsiala because of all the work he’s been doing in recent months with the B team and in training.

“Also a lot of praise towards Ridvan playing on that [right-hand] side against these clubs. How he’s performing, same way for Clinton Nsiala coming in with no experience at this level.

“And also, [I must] praise to all the staff working with all these young guys to get them really fast in the story and to learn things really fast, because there’s no room for error here.

“We could have scored more. We had enough chances. We weren’t efficient enough. We hit the bar and post as well. We knew we had to kill off the opponent, otherwise they can score with one chance.

“But we kept pushing.”
