Those Rangers links to Juventus legend Claudio Marchisio just don’t seem to be going away.

The 55-times capped Italy international may be 33, but he’d still have plenty to offer in Scotland.

Fans are incredibly split over whether the move would be a sensible one for Rangers, not to mention the fact many are sceptical that Rangers’ interest is even a thing.

 

There’s a mixture of disbelief, blind ambition and real scepticism here, but there have been no official sounds from the club to suggest Rangers are interested.

The midfielder remains a Juventus legend, playing over 380 games for the Old Lady and establishing himself as one of the best “number 8s” in football.

But after leaving Juventus Marchisio experienced a troubled spell with Zenit St. Petersburg and was eventually moved on.

Marchisio was originally said to have rejected an approach by Rangers last week.

But later reports then suggested the Ibrox club had not given up hope of signing the midfielder [RMC Sport] despite reports claiming he was nearing a move to French club Monaco.

Finally, a Tweet from a reputable Italian journalist claimed that Marchisio was still weighing up his options between French club Monaco, Brazilians Flamengo and Glasgow Rangers [Matteo Pedrosi].

Whatever the case, if Rangers are to convince Marchisio to come to Ibrox, then one man could well hold the keys.
