A summer Rangers target deemed too expensive by the Gers is being lined up as a potential replacement for £64.8m Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland.

The big Norwegian, 20, is one of football’s most highly sought after talents with Manchester City and Manchester United both linked to the star.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Haaland has a £64.8m (€75m) release clause in his contract and this is how much clubs will need to pay for the powerful striker.

Nigeria striker Terem Moffi, 21, was linked to Rangers in the summer and has since been named as a potential replacement for the Norwegian wonderkid at the Westfalenstadion.

Moffi – then playing in Belgium with Kortrijk – was one of a range of strikers linked to Ibrox over the summer as the club looked to bolster their attack ahead of the new campaign.

Rangers were reported to have been interested in the striker but according to Het Laatste Nieuws wouldn’t meet the £4.3m demands of the Pro League side.

The Gers opted to move for both Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten instead – for a combined reported fee of £6m [Scottish Sun] – and the rest is history in a campaign which has delivered so much.

Moffi would move to Ligue 1 with Lorient instead and has enjoyed an impressive season in France, scoring eleven goals in 27 games in the nation’s top tier this season.

Now – according to Fussball Transfers – Moffi is one of a number of players being considered as a potential replacement for Haaland should the big striker move on this summer.

Perhaps Rangers might then regret not meeting Kortrijk’s demands for the player only last summer.

One former Rangers striker continues to light up the Scottish Premiership with an 11-minute hattrick hauling his new side further away from relegation.
