Craig Moore reckons Rangers still need need to shop local despite the imminent arrival of international investment.

49ers Enterprises were given the Ibrox treatment as the Rangers takeover continues apace with fresh money set to pour into Ibrox this summer.

Rangers have appointed Kevin Thelwell as sporting director and will now set their sights on the next Rangers manager after years of chopping and changing in the dugout.

But whilst there will be big temptation for Rangers’ new owners to come in and spend big, Craig Moore has urged the Ibrox side to consider one form Scottish striker.

Craig Moore tips Kevin Nisbet for Rangers

Kevin Nisbet is currently on loan at Aberdeen and has had an up and down season in Scottish football.

The Millwall striker has nine goals for the Dons in the Scottish Premiership this season and netted the only goal of the game as Aberdeen defeated Hibs 1-0 over the weekend.

Moore reckons that whilst the Scotland international might be out of Aberdeen’s reach, Rangers could pull off a coup by signing the hitman to the American revolution.

“I think he is 28 and there is talk of potentially Aberdeen might not being able to afford him from Millwall or money might be an issue,” Moore told the Go Radio Football Show.

“Again, I think it would be a good fit for Rangers, if they are looking, which I am sure they are looking at every single position.

“Took his goal brilliantly at the weekend. He is coming back on himself, and his anticipation in terms of just to sometimes stand still, but to come back and volley finish it the way he did.”

Steven Gerrard tried to sign Kevin Nisbet for Rangers in 2021

It’s not the first time Kevin Nisbet has been linked with a move to Rangers either.

Back in the striker’s Hibs day, Herald journalist Hugh MacDonald claimed that Steven Gerrard wanted to sign Nisbet in 2021 but Rangers wouldn’t stump up the £4m necessary.

Rangers were also said to be tailing Nisbet all the way back to his Dunfermline days.

With Gerrard also linked to a Rangers return, four years on could the two finally be set to work together at Ibrox?
