Steven Gerrard names one Rangers player who stood out in Youth Cup

Steven Gerrard was full of praise for the Rangers U18s as they put in a top performance to lift the Scottish FA Youth Cup.
The Gers manager was present to watch the young bears beat rivals Celtic 3-2 in an enthralling encounter. In his pre-match press conference with Aberdeen Gerrard discussed the result and the player’s performance
And he named one young player in particular who impressed last night. Former Chelsea youth Nathan Young Coombes. But it was the team performance that mostly caught Gerrard’s eye.

“I thought the team performance last night was magnificent and that’s what impressed me the most,” said Gerrard.
“I thought from goalkeeper to Young-Coombes up front, every single one of them emptied it out there.
“There was an incredible amount of talent in both teams – great goals, great tackles and great patterns of play. I was just loving it and I thought it was a terrific night.”
Nathan Young-Coombes joined the club in January and ended up getting the eventual winner last night. The young striker nodded in from a free-kick cross.
It was one of three goals which came from set plays, but Rangers were fantastic from back to front throughout the game. Josh McPake is another standout player who caught the eye in the game.

And Gerrard admitted we could see some of the players from the Youth Cup final in the first team before the season is out.
The Rangers boss said, “there are certainly plans to introduce them and launch them at some point and whether that will be in the final four games, we will have to wait and see.”
