Steven Gerrard: “Little or no business in the January window”

Steven Gerrard has revealed that there will be “little or no business in the January window” at a pre-match press conference before tomorrow’s match with Livingston.

There has been much talk of January investments almost since the season began. The club were widley rumoured to be looking at bringing in at least four players.

Fans were excited to see the backroom staff add more quality.

But this statement feels like a gentle let down by the Gaffer. It’s as if he’s letting fans know early to avoid disappointment.

Rangers will be making moves but if they don’t come off, maybe this is a precursor to any failings in the window.

The news might frustrate fans. Whilst things are going well, there’s visibly still work to be done at Ibrox.

Would be a major disappointment to see no new arrivals

Only today, Talksport reported that Rangers were on the verge of signing Dominic Solanke on loan. Gerrard’s comments suggest that might not be the case.

The manager had also suggested we’re looking for more players earlier in the season. But maybe there have been roadblocks preventing us moving for our biggest targets.

For me, there are two players Rangers must get in if they’re available.

Former captain Steven Davis is the exact kind of player we’re missing in the middle.

And Dominic Solanke would add real young, hungry class to our forward line.

That said, it would be a major disappointment if we don’t bring anyone in.

Even after Gerrard’s latest comments, fans still expect some movement both ways in the Winter window.
