Steven Gerrard coy with pre-match comments on injuries

In the run up to a big match, Managers rarely give anything away. In the run up to an Old Firm, you always need to keep an ace up your sleeve. Especially when it comes to injuries.

Rangers are in the midst of a mini-crisis injury wise at the minute. It probably couldn’t have come at a worse time either. For the entirety of December we’ve toiled with some of our best talents out crocked.

Borna Barisic, Scott Arfield, Ryan Kent and Connor Goldson, for me, would all start tomorrow. They’re all major doubts. Given our defensive issues Goldson in particular would be a big miss.

Barisic it seems is the only who Gerrard has confirmed as out.

On top of that, the likes of Gareth McAuley , Graham Dorrans and Jamie Murphy remain sidelined. We’re down to the bare bones with injuries.

Gerrard however, was coy about who’d make it who wouldn’t. He said:

“I’ve still got some decisions to make, I’ve still got some checks to do. We’ve still got one more training session to go, so we’ve got 24 hours if you like.

“It’s not ideal in terms of availability but we’ll still have a strong team tomorrow. We’re giving everyone up to the last possible moment. There’s still two or three that are touch and go but we’ll make decisions on them either later today or first thing in the morning.”

This means that we won’t know who’s starting until lunchtime tomorrow. In my mind the two or three are Connor Goldson, Scott Arfield and Ryan Kent.

These are huge players for Rangers and any of them being involved could throw a spanner in the works for Celtic.

Let’s hope a couple of them make the starting XI.
