Rangers manager Gio van Bronckhorst has raved about Ryan Kent following his superb display against Borussia Dortmund [RangersTV].

Kent bamboozled multiple defenders in the lead up to Rangers’ third goal in the 4-2 victory on Thursday night, with the assist his standout contribution.

He was a threat throughout the 90 minutes, though, and also did well without the ball, winning ten duels and making four tackles [SofaScore].

When discussing his attacking threat in particular, BT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves likened Kent to ex-Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery.

When asked about that comparison during Friday morning’s press conference, Kent’s manager added further praise.

“We know the qualities of Ryan,” said GvB [RangersTV]. “I can see the comparison because they both play the same way. They’re not very big, they move very lightly and they can beat players in the one-vs-one’s so I’m really happy for Ryan, the performances he’s putting in and the danger he has when we’re attacking.”

“I think his defensive work was also impressive and I think he’s becoming a better player every game so hopefully we can improve his performances and his development.

“He’s definitely one of the players who is stepping up his game in recent weeks.”

Kent is a big-game player, as he has shown on several occasions in the past, particularly in Old Firms.

However, as he matures, the 25-year-old looks to be becoming more consistent.

As alluded to by van Bronckhorst, his excellent showing against Dortmund was just one of several in recent weeks, with Kent notching five assists in his last five Premiership appearances.

He’ll be a key man on Sunday against Dundee United, as the Gers look to do what they failed to at Tannadice back in August and secure three points.

Meanwhile, the hosts have received a considerable player boost ahead of the game.
